Youth sailing empowers young people to build confidence, learn new skills, develop decision making, practice teamwork and instill a clear sense of responsibility as well as care for others.
From recreational sailing to competitive racing, youth programmes offer structured pathways for all experience levels. The youth sailing community is energetic, inclusive, and always excited to welcome the next generation.

SEA SCOUTS AND SEA CADETS
Sea Scouts and Sea Cadets can provide a chance to sail, cruise on boats, learn navigation, learn how to work on engines and compete in regattas. Sea Scouts often have distinctive uniforms. In most cases Scout/Cadet organisations are ope to those between the ages of 14 and 20 years old.
How to Start
Getting involved in youth sailing is easy. Many local clubs offer beginner courses, summer camps, and after-school programmes tailored for children and teens.
Equipment and boats are often provided, making it accessible without needing to own your own gear.
Parents can register their children through a local sailing club, national sailing federation, or directly with World Sailing Day-28 May to get connected with our global member organisations.

Youth sailing is supported globally by federations and clubs that offer coaching, competitions, and development programmes. From local regattas to international championships, there are many ways to progress.
Through activations such as opendays, tryouts and introduction on the 28th of May, WSDO aims to promote participaton in sailing.
