WELCOME MOTOR SAILING/BOATING

Motor bosting and sailing offers excitement, freedom, and access to a wide range of on-the-water activities. Whether it’s leisurely cruising, high-speed adventure, fishing, or exploring remote coastlines, motor boating has something for everyone. You can enjoy it solo, with friends or family, or as part of an organized group. The motor boating community is welcoming, diverse, and passionate about life on the water.

Reasons to Start

Motor boating is accessible, thrilling, and endlessly rewarding. It also:

  • Provides a dynamic and exhilarating way to experience the water.
  • Builds confidence in navigation, seamanship, and boat handling.
  • Encourages exploration, from inland waterways to open seas.
  • Is perfect for socialising, travel, recreation, and even sport.

How to Start

Starting with motor boating is easy and doesn’t require owning your own boat. Many clubs and marinas offer rentals, training programs, and crewing opportunities.

Local boating centres and associations often provide introductory courses on safety, navigation, and handling. You can also register here with the World Sailing Day Organisation and be connected to member organisations that support newcomers to motor boating.

Information and Opportunities

Motor boating/sailing is supported by various marine and boating organisations worldwide. These provide resources, safety guidance, training, and organised events for all experience levels.

Registered World Sailing Day members gain access to directories and activity calendars.
