Our Sailing Ambassadors play a vital role: inspiring participation, raising awareness, supporting local initiatives, and sharing the values at the heart of World Sailing Day: heritage, innovation, sustainability, and the joy of being on the water.
Ambassadors also represent the interests of the various interest groups within our sailing community and provide valuable input and guidance to our activities.
Our Partner Ambassadors, havde a different role as they become the local contact for companies and interest groups who wish to cooperate and build benefits and opprtunities for the local industry and comercial sailing sectors.
What Ambassadors do
- Act as a point of contact
- Activate participation: encourage clubs/ports/schools/organisers to host & engage with WSD
- Strengthen the ecosystem: make introductions between organisers, institutions, and collaborators.
- Share knowledge: what’s working, what’s needed, what’s changing

There are 118 countries with navigable waters. Across the US and Europe alone, there are roughly 20,000 marinas providing over 2 million berths. In the US, recreational sailing generates around $230B in annual economic impact (NMMA, 2023).
