There are many opportunities to participate competitively in sailing , this includes competing as an individual or as a team member or even becoming involved as supporter, volunteer or spectator. The racing community welcomes all new comers!

Social Club racing after work on Wednesday or Thursday evenings provide a welcome and refreshng break ! and on weekends an extended mini-vacation !

Reasons to Start

​All levels of racing are highly stimulating and very rewarding. Some reasons to start are that it:​

  • Improves fitness, both mental & physical​
  • Practices teamwork and develops camaraderie​
  • Is competitive focuses one on success and overcoming challenges​
  • It can be a life-long activity: learning, experiencing and creating bonds.

How to Start

You can start by joining a team or sailing individually. You do not have to have your own boat or equipment to start.

This can be done by joining your local club/association, by registering as sportsperson with organisations like WORLD SAILING or by inquiring at your local marine store. You can also register here with the World Sailing Day Organisation and we will introduce you to our member organisations.

Call for Award Candidates

​Racing has its own Golden Sail award category. ​
Both individuals and organisations are honoured for the their contribution to Racing.​

Support racing by recognising and celebrating the people and organisations that have contributed ! ​

You are able to submit your candidate for consideration to World Sailing Day via your club or association to the Golden Sail awards.​
