WELCOME TO BOARD SAILING
Board sailing offers an exhilarating and hands-on way to experience the power of wind and water. Whether you’re windsurfing, kiteboarding, or wingfoiling, board sports combine balance, speed, and technique into a thrilling watersport.
From serene coastal cruising to high-performance competition, the board sailing world is vibrant and growing—and it’s ready to welcome you!
Reasons to Start
Board sailing is fun, fast-paced, and incredibly satisfying. It also:
- Enhances physical strength, balance, and coordination.
- Sharpens mental focus and quick decision-making.
- Encourages individual expression and freedom on the water.
- Connects you with a passionate and global board sports community.
How to Start
You don’t need to own your own gear to begin. Most local water sports centres and clubs offer rental equipment and beginner lessons.
Many provide entry-level training with certified instructors and progressive pathways as you gain skills. Whether you want to ride for fun or train for competition, you can register with your local club or here with the World Sailing Day Organisation, and we’ll connect you to our partner organisations in board sailing.
Board Sailing – without limits !
Included in our Board Sailing category are :
Windsurfing
A board with a mast-and-sail rig you hold via a boom. Classic “board sailing”: carve, plane, jump, race, freestyle, wave.
Wing Foiling (Wingboarding)
You hold an inflatable hand-wing while standing on a foil board. Lifts above the water on a hydrofoil for smooth fast riding.
Kitesurfing (Kiteboarding)
A large controllable kite pulls you on a board; you steer with a bar. High speed, big air jumps, freestyle, wave riding, and racing.
Foil Kitesurfing
Kitesurfing specifically using a hydrofoil board for very early lift, high upwind angles, and efficiency.
Wind Foiling
Windsurfing on a hydrofoil (foil board + windsurf rig). Earlier planing, higher speeds, and “flying” above chop.
SUP Sailing (WindSUP)
A stand-up paddleboard fitted with a small windsurf sail. Great entry point; stable, easy, and fun in light wind.
