World Sailing Day Events
Whether it’s a simple afternoon sail, a coordinated multi-club event, industry/commercial open day or a sailing related cultural event,
we invite and encourage you to promote and improve access to sailing by either attending or creating your own event.
on the water
These events include open-day sailing sessions, trial sails, regattas, flotilla cruises, classic-yacht parades, sailing school demonstrations, and on water-sports showcases to community boat tours and charity sails.
these “On the Water” celebrations create unforgettable shared experiences, promote access to sailing, and inspire more people to enjoy life on the water.
open days
These events include museum open days, guided tours of facilities, clubs and boatyards/shipyards, meet-the-team sessions, introductory briefings, boatbuilding and rigging demonstrations, safety workshops, boat showcases, introductions to training programs, and community iinitiatives.
These “Open Days” are designed to be warm, accessible, and inspiring, helping people discover sailing for the first time, strengthen local engagement, and building long-term community interest in sailing.
in the club
These events include talks by experienced sailors, film screenings, photo exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions, member meet-ups, family activities, heritage displays, and fundraising initiatives. Clubs social evenings, award announcements, or themed celebrations to bring members and guests together socially or also in combination with local marine industry network breakfasts.
These events create a warm and inclusive atmosphere, “In the Club” events strengthen community bonds, highlight llocal sailing culture, and ensure everyone whether they are currently sailing or not.
celebrations
These include waterfront festivals, live music, BBQs, sunset gatherings, themed parties, family fun days, cocktail receptions, prize draws, cultural performances, sailor reunions, or fireworks displays where permitted.
These upbeat, energetic moments help create a joyful atmosphere around the day, bringing sailors and non-sailors together to celebrate the lifestyle, heritage, and community that make sailing so special.
for children
These include junior sailing taster sessions, model-boat building, knot-tying workshops, treasure hunts, water-safety games, storytelling sessions, creative arts and crafts, beginner dinghy demonstrations, and family-oriente learning stations. Sailing camps and Sailing school events can also be combined with Museum visits and activities.
Designed to spark curiosity and confidence, these events help children discover the joy of sailing, build early skills, and connect families to the spirit of sailing.
buyING
These events can include boat/yacht/board/foil/ or even VR software viewings, guided inspections, expert Q&A sessions, finance and insurance briefings, test sails, equipment advice, and presentations on sustainable ownership or fractional programs.
Designed to be welcoming and practical, these events help prospective buyers understand their options, meet trusted professionals, and make confident decisions while contributing to the vibrant marketplace that supports Sailing.
