The World Sailing Day Organisation (“WSDO”) is committed to equality of opportunity and aims to ensure that all present and potential participants, members, judges, competitors, volunteers and employees are treated fairly and on an equal basis,
irrespective of sex, age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, gender reassignment or social status.
Objectives
To ensure that sailing in it broadest sense is celebrated, promoted and where possible made accessible to the widest audience, whether on the water, on land or virtually, specifically on the 28th of May each year. To ensure that the WSDO’s events and activities are as accessible as possible in order to attract new participants to sailing which; include women and girls,
are from under-represented groups, are people with disabilities, are people from BAME backgrounds and LGBT+ people.
To identify and promote role models at all levels from aforementioned underrepresented groups. World Sailing Day Organisation (“WSDO”) also encourages its affiliated clubs and organisations and partner companies and other stakeholders to adopt similar policies, so that they offer an experience to participants that is friendly, welcoming and open to all.
World Sailing Day Organisation (“WSDO”) appoints honorary positions, selects volunteers, employs (paid or unpaid) positions on the basis of an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience and the competences required for the role.
The World Sailing Day Organisation (“WSDO”) reserves the right to discipline any of its members, appointees, volunteers, or employees who practise any form of discrimination in breach of this policy, in line with the relevant articles, rules, codes of
conduct and disciplinary procedures.
The effectiveness of this policy will be monitored and evaluated on an ongoing basis by the World Sailing Day Organisation (“WSDO”) Board.
